Why is humor important?
Your body's mind or instinct is a device designed to protect your body at all costs. Under stress, your body wants to protect itself... even if the action is harmful and inappropriate. For example, anyone who has tried to diet has learned that the body will store fat in times of stress. An inappropriate response to stress caused by a gossiping co-worker.
One way to reassure the body's mind that the body isn't in mortal danger is to laugh. Laughter,or even smiles, triggered by something funny feels good. When you feel good it is impossible to simultaneously feel bad. When you feel good you let the body's mind know that all is well in the world and it relaxes. When you are no longer is survival mode you allow your creativity, intellect and intuition have some mental space to help you find solutions that work.
Buy and send lots of funny greeting cards. Share jokes to lift your mood. Find something that makes you laugh out loud every single day.
